When is the Best Time of Day to Take CBD?

Posted by ZuRI on Sep 23rd 2020

A frequent question of those new to taking CBD is, “What time of day should I be taking CBD?” Since CBD affects everyone differently, there is no be-all and end-all answer. In order to come to answer for yourself with this question, there are three key factors that you must consider.

3 Factors That Help Determine When to Take CBD

What is the reason you are taking CBD?

What form of CBD are you taking?

What dose are you taking?

Listen to Your Body

Taking CBD as a whole is a process of experimentation due to the complex body systems you are dealing with and the genetic differences between person to person. The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) regulates many processes throughout the human body, including memory, mood, appetite, stress, sleep, and metabolism. CBD interacts with this system on a molecular level. Due to the complexity of this body system, the effects CBD has on these different processes are unique to each individual.

All in all, after considering the following factors, it is very important to listen to the response your body is giving you and ultimately experiment until you come to an outcome that you desire.

Why are you taking CBD?

Taking a broad scope as to why people are taking CBD, you will find that the answer varies vastly from person to person. Stories range from anxiety and depression, to arthritis pain, insomnia, and more. What time you take CBD should largely be based on the reasons you are taking it in the first place. For example, say you are interested in trying CBD because you struggle winding down and falling asleep at night. In this instance you may take your dose of CBD in the evening time. On the other hand, if you are interested in CBD because of your anxiety, you may choose to take your CBD on a need-be basis such as when you feel anxiety creeping up or before a nerve-wracking event. These are two different reasons with very different time frames for taking CBD, so considering why you’re taking the dose in the first place is step one.

What form of CBD are you taking?

The type of CBD product you are using is a substantial factor into what time you should use CBD. Different products have varying modes of delivering CBD and these modes have different time frames too. Ingestible products such as capsules and gummies will have a slow, gradual effect since they must be processed through the digestive system. Diversely, oil tinctures are sublingually absorbed and yield a faster result by directly entering the bloodstream via glands under your tongue. Topical products like lotions and rubs are generally best for those who have specific spots that they want to treat. These are applied as needed and the CBD generally stays locally to where it is applied.

What dose are you taking?

Almost all CBD products come with a serving size or suggested daily use recommendation. However, it is important to experiment and find what works best for you. For example, we recommend to take 8 pumps of our Wellness Drops per day, and for some of our customers this feels right, but depending on how your body metabolizes CBD and the desired affect you are trying to achieve, you may need to take a little more or a little less.

Finding Your Dose: The Titration Method

The titration method is our recommended method of finding the sweet spot for a dose of CBD. Start by taking the suggested serving size every day for three days at the same time. Each day take special notice of how you feel. After three days evaluate if you are receiving the desired affects. If not, bump up the dose and repeat the process for the next three days. Keep repeating until you find the dose your body needs. Though this process may seem lengthy and kind of a nuisance, achieving your aspired results will be well worth it.

Experiment and Get Creative: Some Options

  1. Double the Dose: take one dose in the morning and another in the evening
  2. Split the Dose: take half the dose in the morning and half the dose in the evening
  3. Take it with or without meals

Our Final Thoughts

There is an answer for you, it just may take some time and consideration. All-in-all listen to what your body is telling you and experiment until you find the dose that gives you your desired results. There is no right or wrong time of day to take CBD. With some trial and error you will be able to find the perfect method, timing, and dose for you. If you have further questions, we are always here to help.
